This policy explains how I, Megan Hunter, handle personal information collected through megan-hunter.com and when you contact me about my consulting services. I'm an independent contractor and UAE resident, working under a UAE freelance permit, and I am the controller of the personal information described below. I handle it in line with applicable data protection law, including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and, where it applies, the UK and EU GDPR. What I collect and why

When you email me: I receive your name, email address and anything you include in your message. I use this to reply and to discuss working together. Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and taking steps at your request before any agreement.

When you book a call: bookings are handled through Cal.com, which collects your name, email and chosen time, plus anything else you add. I use this to arrange and hold the call. Lawful basis: taking steps before a possible agreement, and my legitimate interest in managing my calendar. Cal.com processes booking data as a separate service under its own privacy policy.

Analytics (only if you accept): if you accept analytics in the cookie banner, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you view, your approximate location and your device and browser. I use this to understand how the site is used and improve it. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. If you decline, no analytics data is collected through cookies. Hosting: the site is hosted by Vercel, which may process technical information such as your IP address in order to serve the site securely. Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in running the site safely.

Who I share information with

I don't sell your personal information. I use a small number of trusted services that process data on my behalf, each under its own terms and privacy policy: Google (Google Analytics, and Google Workspace for email), Cal.com (call bookings) and Vercel (hosting). Some are based outside the UAE and process data internationally; where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are relied upon for those transfers.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry and booking information for as long as I need it to deal with your enquiry or our working relationship, then delete it. Analytics data is retained in line with my Google Analytics settings.

Your rights

You can ask me to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal information I hold about you, object to certain processing, and receive a copy of it. Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@megan-hunter.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the UAE, the UAE Data Office; if you are in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); and if you are in the EEA, your local supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
